Herb Profile: Horehound

Horehound Marrubium

Horehound has long been regarded for its use for lung and respiratory support. It is an expectorant herb, which means that it helps to expel tough phlegm from the lungs and chest. It can be used to treat chronic cough and asthma. It is said that the Latin name of Marrubium is derived from the Hebrew word marrob (a bitter juice), and is one of the herbs used in the Passover holiday meal.

Preparations

Make a tea for lung support for a common cold. Pour boiling water over fresh or dried leaves and drink as needed.
