A Different Way to Work with Plants

Finding truly fresh, high-quality herbs for medicine-making and cooking is not easy. Many of us are used to dried herbs that have traveled far, lost their aroma, and arrived disconnected from the land they came from.

Most people are taught to outsource their health and to treat plants as products rather than living allies. Over time, this creates distance from our bodies, from the seasons, and from the skills that once helped families care for one another.

At Sawmill Herb Farm, we offer another way.

Our Fresh Herb CSA gives you direct access to vibrant, certified organic herbs grown with care and harvested at their peak. We grow the herbs for you, and we teach you how to prepare them, so you can turn fresh plant material into teas, tinctures, salves, and everyday food with confidence.

When you work with fresh herbs, something shifts. You learn their scents, textures, and timing. You begin to trust your hands and your intuition. Medicine becomes personal, creative, and deeply rooted in place.

By the end of the season, your shelves are fuller and so is your confidence. You are making remedies for yourself, your family, and your community using ingredients you know and trust.

Whether you are new to herbal medicine or have been practicing for years, this CSA supports you in building skills, deepening your relationship with plants, and bringing powerful, homegrown medicine back into daily life.

Our Flexible CSA Model

We’ve reimagined the traditional CSA to make it easier than ever to work with fresh, local herbs.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Join as a member by purchasing your share upfront
  2. Choose your pick up location (Montague, Florence, NYC or Shipped)
  3. Choose how often you'll get a share (Monthly or Biweekly)
  4. Add-on the Early May box if you'd like to get fresh springtime only herbs like nettles, cleavers, chickweed, violets, burdock root and more

  6. Before each pickup - customize your share by choosing 5 herbs and adding on extras
  7. Pick up in person at one of our weekly or monthly locations in Montague, Florence and NYC, or have it delivered to your door

A CSA Share looks like...
